How NOT to make 100+ Mojitos for a wedding party:

Slice and squeeze 60 limes without gloves.

Do not wash your hands after.

The Now Show on Radio 4

Posted on July 30th, 2008 in Uncategorized by Kevin

Just listened to ‘The Now Show’ which is part of Radio 4′s Friday Night Comedy podcasts. If you have never heard it before, its with Steve Punt & Hugh Dennis, who had a short lived series on the BBC back in the 90′s (The Imaginatively Titled Punt & Dennis Show) which I also loved at the time.

Anywho, download the episode linked below and check out the last 2 minutes or so, had me laughing my big arse off.

Fucking Evil Bay

Posted on December 18th, 2007 in Uncategorized by Kevin

e-bay is like the internets gynaecologist… It attracts all the world cunts into one simple, easy to browse website.
I am normally a trusting person, but this den of scum is so full of Nigerian scammers, fucktards and other such low lifes that I have never, and will never buy anything from it.
This is the point that most people say, ‘hey, i have been using it for years and never had any trouble… well there was that one time, blah blah blah’ and they start to ramble on about how they were scammed. ‘But it was just the once!’ they scream. Listen to me people, ONCE IS ENOUGH, don’t let this glorified pawn shop, with its bright colours and clever advertising fool you any longer, leave and never look back.

Solaris…my new love??

Posted on December 16th, 2007 in Uncategorized by Kevin

OK, I have been a Linux geek for a long time, I have tried some of the others and never got on with them as well as I have with sheer simplicity of Debian GNU/Linux. Well with my new job I had to throw myself into the deep end of the Solaris pit and start learning this system as quickly as possible as I was now expected to support it.

After a little acclimatisation to a new system layout, I found myself really likeing some of the ways things were done. For example, unlike Linux where network cards are called eth0, eth1 and so on, Solaris names each interface after the driver, BGE for Broadcom Gigabit Ethernet and NGE for nVidia Gigabit Ethernet. This makes working with network diagram’s and maps much easier in my opinion.

Fineally, I have created a #Solaris channel on Blitzed’s IRC network, came and say hello sometime.

IRC & irssi

Posted on December 16th, 2007 in Uncategorized by Kevin

I have been idleing in the #bitfolk channel on Blitzeds IRC Network reciently, but i have been logging in from different places useing different clients. This was becoming a pain in the neck to log in over and over in different places, so with my hosted server by the guys at Bitfolk i decided to install a client and run it from there, then log into my session from anywhere with SSH and Screen. I opted to use the irssi client and found it to be so much better to use than the clients I had been using. I had thought that IRC in a terminal might be ugly and not work as well and GUI client, how wrong I was.

After installing and connecting to my usual channels, (#bitfolk & #surrey) i went about seeing how i could make this as easy as possible for myself, I found that the scriptability and range of scripts made irssi do just about anything you want it too! I have set up a simple 2 pane view, with my channels on the top, and my hilight and status window at the bottom.

Anyway, enough rambling.
